captainDaveParticipantmetrognome: But, but, but….if only… Sorry, but much of the world now believes that Obama and his vision for global collectivism was a colossal failure built on lies. Perhaps he would have been a better dictator, but I guess we will never know. Looking forward to a smooth transition of power and a return to cooperative representational governance.

JoBParticipantCaptain Dave..
no. that is not what much of the world now believes
but it is apparently what you believethe problem is that the gap between what you believe to be true and what is true based on the evidence is too wide to fill

SunuvaParticipantCaptain Dave apparently lives in an alternate dimension and is somehow able to teleport to this dimension and post on this site. When I read his posts I can’t find any other explanation for the complete disconnect from the reality that the rest of us are experiencing. It is paranormally strange.
November 20, 2016 at 11:07 pm #865753
captainDaveParticipantSunuva: Yes it’s true. In the world I come from, Donald J Trump was elected president with republicans sweeping the house, senate and gaining 32 governorships. In my world, the leftist ambitions of the socialist-democrat party were shattered and Western civilization was saved from destruction.
However, I know that here in Seattle, president elect Hillary Clinton won by a yuge landslide (as universally predicted) and the despotic march towards global socialism and forced equality didn’t miss a step. Whenever I visit your world, I will symbolically extend my arm and imagine shouting “Hail Hillary!” for you.
If you ever want to visit my world, close your eyes, tap your heels three times and slap yourself across the face repeatedly until you wake up from your delusion that progressive liberalism is still a valid political concept.

JoBParticipantCaptain dave..
Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by a million plus even in your world.
all the rest is simply rhetoric

JoBParticipantCaptain Dave..
this isn’t semantics. and it sure as heck isn’t equality.
November 21, 2016 at 6:24 am #865776
JoBParticipantCaptain Dave..
and from one of your favored “news” sources
“… I think there ought to be a cap on the number of women enrolling in the sciences, maths, philosophy, engineering… and perhaps medicine and the law, too. …”
but hey.. opportunity is equal .. unless you are ___________________.
this article states that competition is fierce to get into these programs.. but thinks that the number of women ought to be capped so men who can’t make it in open competition can have the opportunity they clearly didn’t earn …
he bases his argument on one cherry picked comment taken completely out of contest from a speech by an academic.
and you think we shouldn’t worry our pretty little heads?

JKBParticipantDust has settled, and it seems just about everyone agrees that Trump won the electoral count and hence the election, while Hillary won the popular-vote total. Yes? I’m looking at results from Bloomberg right now, which has Hillary winning by 1,322,095 votes for a 50.5%-to-49.5% lead.
Just to cherrypick some examples, she won by 1,593,000 in the SF Bay area, and 1,514,000 in the LA area. That’s a margin of 1,273,485 in Los Angeles County alone. SF is a little more chopped up and requires combining several counties. So you could say “Trump won the entire country’s popular vote except for Los Angeles County”.
Illinois is another great example: Clinton wins the state 2977498-2118179, after winning Cook County 1528582-440213. That is, Trump wins the whole state except for Chicago.
It’s easy to pick out these examples because results are reported geographically, and the city/country divide is a really strong indicator of where Hillary did well/poorly. Identifying examples of Trump hotspots probably requires good data on economic or education or some other social data that we’d only get from exit polls.
The really dramatic state was Virginia. First Hillary carries DC and gets the 3 electoral votes even though DC is even smaller than WY. So if that’s unfair for Wyoming, it’s even worse for DC. Then the suburban spillover from DC actually carries the state of Virginia: Clinton wins Fairfax County by 200,000 votes, and the whole of VA by 185,000.
Anyway…the turkey isn’t ready yet, so I went off to chew on some numbers.

JoBParticipantJKB
“So you could say “Trump won the entire country’s popular vote except for Los Angeles County”.i am not sure where you got that idea…
I suppose you could say that Trump won the popular vote except in high density urban areas…
or . Trump won the popular vote if you count only men… although the young dudes went for Hillary..
or .. Trump won the vote of those without a college education
or …but i am not sure where you get the idea that California was the only part of the country that turned out in some pretty record numbers for Hillary..
November 23, 2016 at 4:23 pm #866071
JoBParticipantthen you can ask the question..
would Trump have won those battleground states without voter purges and ID requirements and limited polling places and…enjoy your Turkey
November 23, 2016 at 5:20 pm #866072
JKBParticipantCriminy. Sometimes you post intelligent articulate material, so I know you’re capable of it.
But on this thread, you sure aren’t on the side of actual data.
November 23, 2016 at 9:51 pm #866096
JanSParticipantHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!. JKB, calm down, have a good Thanksgiving.
and please give data to refute what you think is wrong with JoB’s.
November 23, 2016 at 10:05 pm #866097
redblackParticipantor you can look at it this way:
clinton won the popular vote by a margin the size of san antonio, TX.
or you could look at it this way:
trunt hasn’t won until the electoral college votes and certifies in december.
good night and good luck.

JKBParticipant“Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent” – it’s still good advice.
Redblack’s point that only the electors matter (when do they meet?) is probably moot, but even one switching sides would be massively entertaining. House of Reps, here we come!
November 23, 2016 at 11:51 pm #866103
captainDaveParticipantDHS estimates 11.4 illegal aliens in the US. How many of them voted for Clinton? It is unlikely any significant number would have voted for Trump. Subtract the illegal votes and Hillary would have lost the popular vote despite the usual legion of dead people that always turn up to vote democrat.
November 24, 2016 at 8:23 am #866115
JoBParticipantCaptain Dave..
you do realize that illegal aliens can’t vote.. don’t you?
or do you really believe all of the lies being passed off as truth?November 24, 2016 at 8:25 am #866116
JoBParticipantJKB..
” House of Reps, here we come!”only if it’s a tie…
if enough stuff hits the fan between now and then it is entirely possible that enough electors would switch to unseat a President Elect who sees the Presidency as just another business deal…not probable.. but possible
November 24, 2016 at 8:47 am #866117
miwsParticipantJoB, I think illegal aliens vote in those same voting booths that the dead people do. ;-)

November 24, 2016 at 10:44 am #866121
captainDaveParticipantJoB: Do you not believe the DHS estimates? Why do you believe that people who break multiple laws to be here would not vote for amnesty? California and Nevada (among many other states) don’t require ID to vote:
https://ballotpedia.org/Voter_identification_laws_by_state#tab=Map
Here is a map showing the highest densities of illegal aliens:
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/map_of_the_week/2013/02/map_illegal_immigrant_population_by_state.htmlAs you can see, California and Nevada have high populations of illegal aliens who do not need ID to vote. It does not take a rocket scientist to extrapolate the probable effect on Clinton’s fictitious lead.
For those who do not know, it is currently against federal law for non-citizens to vote in federal elections while some sanctuary cities may allow (fail to enforce and even encourage) illegals to vote in local elections. When the local and federal elections are on the same ballet, there is no process to inform illegal aliens of the law.
November 24, 2016 at 11:01 am #866122
metrognomeParticipant*IF* that many illegal aliens had voted, surely someone would have noticed all those UFOs stacked up over the major cities, waiting to land so they could fill in all those little ovals on the ballots, which they have a heckuva time doing with those long, spindly fingers.
Hillary’s lead in the POPULAR vote is now over 2 million. In the last seven presidential elections, conservatives have won the popular vote only once — because Shrub43 had gotten elected the first time around via the Electoral College and then started an unnecessary war in Iraq to make sure he would be re-elected.
And, Jill Stein and the Green Party have nearly reached their goal of raising enough to pay for recounts in three battleground states. If Hillary wins, it will save the trouble of impeaching rump for violating that Constitution he loves to uphold by accepting gifts from foreign powers for his businesses.
New Trump motto: “Experience? My cabinet don’t need no stinkin’ experience!”
capnDave – I *love* your random neo-conservative word generator; I gotsa ta get me the liberal version! “…his vision for global collectivism was a colossal failure built on lies.”
November 24, 2016 at 11:32 am #866126
JanSParticipantJKB…they meet on Dec. 19…basic knowledge…
November 24, 2016 at 11:39 am #866130
JanSParticipanthey, Dave…ya gotta register to vote…and you need to show ID to register….where the eff do you come up with crap like illegal immigrants voting en masse, making a difference? You slam some of us on here for only paying attention to certain sources and not being open minded enough to weigh all sides, and then you come up with this crap? Seriously? No, actually, who could possibly take you seriously with the stuff that you put out here. You need a reality check, I do believe.

captainDaveParticipantHappy thanksgiving all! May the years ahead be plentiful for everyone.
When you sit around the dinner table today cursing Trump supporters, please remember that Thanksgiving started out as the celebration of the surpluses produced from free enterprise capitalism over the failed ideology of socialism. It is THIS concept that has driven half the nation to want a change from our present form of overbearing governance.
Here is an enlightening video presentation of philosopher, Stefan Molyneux, that some of you may enjoy that discusses the real history of Thanksgiving:
“What Pisses Me Off About Thanksgiving” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgT4zPIxryEOf course, then there is Rush Limbaugh who has tried to educate the public about the real history of Thanksgiving for many years: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2016/11/23/the_true_story_of_thanksgiving\
Despite what you lefties have been indoctrinated to think by the fabulous propaganda institutions and their elite puppet masters like George Soros, it has nothing to do with racism, bigotry, white supremacy, hatred of women, etc. etc. Rather it has everything to do with creating a sustainable, productive society based on the merits of individual effort and the charity that comes with the resulting surpluses.
I personally would like to see the government get back to doing what it’s suppose to do in securing our borders and administering sensible laws to maintain a free civil society that provides equal opportunity to all–NOT forced equality and ideological sameness of the masses serving at the pleasure of the few. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life fighting people with self-serving political ambitions that subjugate one group for another in trade for votes–there is no end to this corrupt, divisive and destructive game.
Enjoy your surpluses from what is left of the free enterprise system!
