Christmas and all of the other holidays were in the past a homecoming, a main street celebration, a family and old friends time and experience full of comfort and food for the soul. Unfortunately, it has become nothing more than a soulless internet holiday, taken over by the usual soulless economic dictators. Simple gifting and family togetherness is not what these dictators want for you. They want your soul. Holiday insecurities and mental illnesses did not exist before the takeover of our winter traditions.

Partially true. However, listening to stories my mom and her siblings talked about growing up very poor in rural Minnesota in the 20’s and 30’s they were very aware that Santa didn’t always show and if he did there wasn’t much he gave. There were bad people, molesters, burglars, mentally ill people and yes, people living “under the bridge” ALL the social ills that exist now existed then. The difference is of course fewer people populating the country then and of course no tv or internet to see all that is seen now.

Alkistu, I don’t know how old you are. I am 70 yo and grew up in a small town and moved to Seattle in 1963. And I have no idea what you are talking about. Christmas has always been a family holiday. The Christmas you are describing exists only in old movies.
