READER REPORT: Sailboat aground at Lincoln Park

Sent by Tom Trulin, who often has eyes on Lincoln Park:

Sailboat is aground in kelp bed today as the tide is going out. It’s north end of Lincoln Park. It is anchored but the heavy winds made it move toward shore. Maybe the owner will see it today in the blog and move it at high tide.

Low tide was just half an hour ago; next high tide is just before 7 pm.

I believe this sailboat has been anchored further off shore for easily two months.   I hope the owner gets to it soon.   If not, say goodbye to that outboard motor, electronics, and everything not welded down.   That’s what direction our society has gone.

That sailboat was there yesterday and it looked like it it was way too shallow. Not surprised it’s a ground today. The photograph is misleading. Just walked by there and it is completely on dryland now. Tilting to one side. Anchored at two points at the bow and stern.

It was there yesterday when I walked the shoreline between 11 and noon.

It’s been 3 days at least. Someone was trying to move it with a row boat at high tide on Sunday.

To me this picture could be a painting with its glassy water and color reflections.  Very beautiful.
