UPDATE: Flipped-car crash at 8th and Roxbury

(Added – reader photo by Jenny F)

12:37 PM: Thanks for the tip. Emergency responders are at the scene of a crash at 8th/Roxbury. The tipster says a car is “flipped over,” but it’s only a single-engine SFD response, not a “rescue extrication.” Avoid the area for a while.

1:40 PM: Metro says the bus routes are back to normal, indicating the scene is cleared.

4:19 PM: We asked SFD about injuries: One woman around 60 years old was treated at the scene but declined to be taken to a hospital.

ADDED FRIDAY NIGHT: Thanks to Jenny F for posting a photo in comments – we’ve added it above as well, for the record.

Is there a left turn arrow yet for turning  northbound onto 8th from eastbound Roxbury?? Lots of near misses with cars pulling out of the inside lane due to the regular backup. Just a terrible intersection with cars coming fast over that hill going east.

I noticed today at 26th and Roxbury what appears to be turn arrows (covered up but still could be turn arrows from the looks of it) for drivers on 26th. Slowly improvements are on the way.  I agree that 8th and Roxbury needs some turn arrows…..

This intersection, which I drive through at least twice a day, is dangerous. The turn arrow timing needs adjusting. They did it once shortly after the intersection was redone, which helped somewhat, but it is still an issue. The other source of danger is how quickly people drive down Roxbury. I am begging for a speed limit camera near that intersection.

They should make that intersection a no left turn during rush hour. There are several places before 8th Ave an after 8th av  which has designated left turn lane . This will also move traffic along smoother.

Sorry, comment time is over.
