Lots of questions about a big police response at West Seattle Thriftway (WSB sponsor) this past hour. It was reported as a shoplifter turning violent, which turns the incident into a robbery. We just went to the store to find out more. They said no one was seriously hurt. Police took a 17-year-old boy into custody.
Well, I can definitely report everything is back to normal, as I just left TW 5 mins ago and had no idea about the incident until just now as I’m reading this. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
It was certainly very violent, my wife was in the store and witnessed him trashing the floral department and forcing customers to flee to the back of the store. Luckily police arrived quickly before things got worse.
Would be interesting to if we could be a fly on the wall and see how this teenager acts at home and at school 🏫, because one just doesn’t act like this out of the blue but it is a pattern of how they choose to act both at home, school and the community when it comes to becoming out of control and becoming violent. Hopefully a judge will help the family find behavioral counseling and classes on how to control one’s behavior in the community and how to calm down instead of going from zero to 100 within the matter of seconds. Probably something that has been taught to this individual in the past but has yet not used the tools 🧰 in their toolbox to manage their behavior.
I got to Thriftway and saw 4 cop cars and was so confused when I got inside and everything was as normal. It was like nothing had happened 😂
Why don’t we first ask what and why a 17 yr old is shoplifting from a grocery store?
I love that Thriftway isn’t putting up with shop lifting. I stopped shopping at Safeway due to the blatant theft and nothing is done. I was shoved to the side and my cart pushed into my hip when a guy stealing alcohol wanted past me and my cart.
I was there at Thriftway for the entire time this shoplifter was apprehended. When he crashed into the chimes in the store, the sound was unbelievable. I first thought that someone dropped a load of plates or pottery. To the person who said that four police cars showed up, maybe you’re trying to make the incident more dramatic and exciting? At no time during the incident where there four police cars. One police S.U.V. and one police officer for the response.
