Run4Food kicks off West Seattle Beer & Music Festival’s second day

The West Seattle Beer & Music Festival‘s second day is under way – but first, a toast to this year’s beneficiary, the West Seattle Food Bank! Those toasting were participants in this afternoon’s fundraising fun run, the .5K Run4Food. Festival organizer Joe Jeannot led the refreshing celebration at the finish line:

The run was literally around the block where the festival’s happening, at the Alki Masonic Center (40th/Edmunds) in The Junction:

Participants included the WSFB’s tireless executive director Fran Yeatts, who feigned fatigue at the finish line:

Not to rain on this parade, but the sound system seems
extraordinarily loud tonight. I can recall hearing bands at the summer
fest from this distance, but the folks tonight are louder. .Does anyone
monitor this? Are there community standards for outdoor concert events
like this? I am miles away but hear the rappers clearly. This must be
hell for the residents around the Junction. I don’t see why it has to
be so loud. They could still perform to people for blocks around, but
not clear across the peninsula. . ‘So unnecessary and unneighborly to the
nearby residents. I see in the schedule where this runs until 1 am.

The afterparty is indoors 10 pm-1 am. Sound carries differently depending on the weather … last night I could hear the T-Mobile Park post-Mariners fireworks all the way over here above Lincoln Park.
