    it’s interesting to note how much room the bi-directional streetcar track takes up in the middle of California — and there is no station; people just stepped into the street as there were so few cars then.  Now, the tracks would likely be a wider gauge and there would have to be some kind of station or platform, maybe something akin to the Waterfront Streetcar.  There would be room for one traffic lane in each direction but there would be no room for parking anywhere on California where there would be tracks.

    Love to see them doing this without modern technology like laser-leveling devices.  Of course, they dug the railroad tunnel under downtown the same way 20 years earlier.
