3:08 PM: Latest update on orcas headed this way: Donna from The Whale Trail says they are still reported southbound, off Richmond Beach, so whether we see them here before nightfall depends on how fast they are moving, among other factors.
4:07 PM UPDATE: Still north of Elliott Bay, according to commenters on the Orca Network Facebook page.

We were on Alki Beach until about 5:30pm and didn’t see anything but a heron, although the fog coming in from the north made it difficult to see anything outside the sunset’s light.
I was out just before and after sunset too, no luck, either from above (Sunset & Seattle) or sea level. But it was pleasant to know they were out there somewhere! – TR
I was down there with Donna of The Whale Trail, and quite a bit after sunset we did see a few (right before we were about to give up!).

Definitely needed binoculars, and they were not easy to spot in the rapidly diminishing light. But we did see a few swimming south.

So hopefully we can spot them as they head back north tomorrow morning. Keep your eyes peeled!
