Endorsements, legislative review tomorrow @ 34th District Democrats

This year’s primary election is August 6th, four weeks from tonight. Tomorrow night, our area’s largest political organization, the 34th District Democrats, has one more round of endorsements to make, for one position on the Burien City Council and three on the Seattle School Board. (Endorsements already made are listed here.) The meeting also will include a review of the legislative session that’s just concluded with two special sessions, featuring updates from all three 34th District legislators, Sen. Sharon Nelson and Reps. Eileen Cody and Joe Fitzgibbon. The public’s welcome at the meeting, which starts at 7 pm Wednesday (July 10th) at The Hall at Fauntleroy (9131 California SW).

Can anyone confirm this for me?

At the 34th District Democrats endorsement meeting, School Board candidate Stephan Blanford, in the paddle round, signaled that he supports TFA and opposed the MAP boycott. Also, in response to a question he said that he opposed the court challenge to I-1240, the charter school initiative.

Did I get all of that right?

Charlie – nobody will see this comment since it’s on an old story, I’m afraid. But I would encourage you to contact 34th DDs’ chair Marcee Stone-Vekich, whose info is on their website http://34dems.org – we usually cover their meetings but had two conflicts that night and since the endorsements were for positions that are not on the primary ballot here in West Seattle, it fell down the priority list. – TR

Sorry, comment time is over.
