City Council seeks your comments on amendments to proposed marijuana-business rules

If you’re interested in having a say before the Seattle City Council adopts citywide rules for marijuana production, processing, selling, and delivery – now’s the time to speak up. Today’s edition of the twice-weekly city-issued Land Use Information Bulletin includes an announcement of proposed amendments – such as the potential for indoor growing sites spanning up to 50,000 square feet – on which they’re now taking comments along with the main proposals. While the notice says comments will be accepted up until the final vote – not scheduled yet – councilmembers would like to receive comments by 5 pm May 15th, so there’s time for review. Here’s the notice, which also includes links to the proposed rules and amendments.

There needs to be provision to allow growing marijuana for personal use at a residence much like we now can grow poppies, caster beans, etc. etc. One to three plants would be interesting.

There will, however, be no such provisions added, C. That wasn’t part of i-502 and cannot be added now by the City Council.

Please have these state approved growers list all ingredients used to grow their crop with & also pesticides & fungicides used as well (like a calorie count or ingredient list for food).

there HAS to be some type of quality control. If recreational users are going to get pot laced with Plant Growth Regulators, Herbicides, Fugicides and other NON FOOD approved chemicals you will be poisoning the end user!

Most of these chemicals are found in common indoor gardening supplies, especially from companies like Advanced Nutrients!

Flushing your plants before harvest DOES NOT eliminate these toxins, don’t be fooled by industry jargon!

    TEST EVERYTHING FOR PURITY!

This is where the recreational user and the medical user will clash. Guaranteed that the herbal Cannabis user does not care where the bud came from or its certified pedigree. The true medical marijuana user does have solid reasons for knowing the content of the product that goes well beyond the euphoria and psychotomimetic properties of Cannabis.
The State would best certify its crop as organic with a host of analytical profiles ensuring the crop as “safe”. Alas, these techniques will be expensive with the cost passed on to the consumer.
It seems very likely that once the State monopoly gets rolling we all will be wishing for the simpler days when “Eddie” could hook you up with some Purple Kush without the added tax of government intervention.
Perhaps it would have been best to simply remove marijuana from the Revised Code of Washington altogether and let the market drive the machine.
I hope people who find medical relief are not left paying an exorbitant price and those recreational user aren’t left pining for the days of back alley buys.

Sorry, comment time is over.
