  According to the list, VHS tapes are not recycleable, but videotapes are. Beta and reel-to-reel only?

  Anyone have a suggestion for old latex and oil paints/cans? SPU says to use them up, dry the can in the sun and pitch them. Not so helpful when they are half-full and rusting. Fairly certain the transfer station no longer accepts either. Any suggestions?

  Walnut,
  SPU says for latex paint you can harden it by adding cat litter. Also suggest giving to community groups or friends.

  For oil based paint, SPU says to NOT let it dry out as the vapors are hazardous.   YEA! I have a pile of stuff building again. And don’t forget to bring some cash to donate to the church. They don’t require it, but its a nice gesture since they go to all the work to get this scheduled for our community.

  I think they included Videotapes by mistake – because I did try to take Beta tapes there once and they didn’t take those or the VHS tapes.

  The list says “CDs & Players”, but I have it on reasonably good authority (a member of Fauntleroy Church, involved with the Recycle Roundup) that is NOT true.
  CD players, yes.
  CDs, NO.
  Maybe someone “in charge” should correct this error before people show up attempting (fruitlessly) to recycle CDs…?

    Judy IS involved with Fauntleroy Church – this isn’t just some bit of information picked up on the street. Just FYI. However, maybe the apparent error is why she’s just sent me a different one, which I will substitute out. This wouldn’t be the first time the list has changed for one of these, as the assisting company has at times changed its policies for what it takes. Thanks. – TR

  Yikes! :(
  All I was doing was trying to circumvent folks showing up with items that were not actually welcomed at this event…I for one would love to find a place to responsibly recycle CDs.
  My goal was to pass on correct information, not insult anyone connected with this endeavor.
  Apologies if my input was misconstrued as criticism.

  On a nominally related note the DEA is sponsoring another drug take back day for expired / unneeded prescription drugs the day before this event. SPD’s SW Precinct is a drop off location.
