Update: Power flicker? Bird vs. wires, 2nd time today

FIRST REPORT, 4:37 PM: After a few reports of power flickering, the 911 log shows a transformer fire reported off Beach Drive near La Rustica. On our way to check it out.

4:49 PM UPDATE: Per scanner, this – like an earlier incident elsewhere – was apparently a case of bird vs. wires. No lingering outages, and Seattle Fire cleared the scene before we arrived – there’s no sign even of debris in the area.

I live on Alki point and 15 minutes ago I was sitting out on my back deck and heard an odd pulsing/grinding noise and noticed my iPad had lost the connection to my wifi.

I came inside to check my router and my power had gone out but had then come right back up. I wondered what it was.

Thanks WSB. You folks are always on top of things.

That happened at my work a few weeks back. Crow landed on the wrong part of transformer or a wrong wire and BZZZZZZZZZ. RIP Mr. Crow, but thanks for getting me out of work early.

That explains a lot. We had just turned on our air conditioner for the first time in 2 years and it sounded like it was laboring and the compressor kept turning off like in a brown-out. I assumed it was on its last legs. Turned out to be right around the time of that second bird incident.

I live up on 50th & Alaska our power went out for 20 seconds then came back on. My husband thought maybe too many people using fans was the cause.

i work in the junction, thought the flickering was due to our computers being faulty, but guess it wasn’t! thanks for the update

That bird fried my desktop computer. So much for the surge “protector.”

Sorry, comment time is over.
