Thanks to Russell in Arbor Heights for sharing his photo of that Cooper’s hawk. He explains that it “has been scoping out a finch nest in our carport.”

we seem to have one that enjoys the pigeons in our yard. just happened again last week. my only wish is that they would clean up after themselves ;)

We hadn’t noticed him around our house until we arrived home this afternoon and he was perched in the rhododendron below our bird feeder.

What a beautiful bird. Wouldn’t want to be on his diet though.. Watch out little Finches, you appear to be on the lunch menu.

They seem to know bird feeders mean dinner. I had a perigrine falcon investigate the bird feeders on my deck once. Sure is a treat to be able to see these birds up close & personal. Thanks for sharing the photo, Russell!

Saw a Coopers Hawk in downtown W.C. He’d captured a RatCity rodent and was flying down the middle of the business district, trying to gain altitude and miss traffic. Quite an impressive sight
