Third West Seattle Golf Course driving-range meeting: October 27

Thanks to Fairmount Community Association‘s Sharonn Meeks for spotting and sharing this news: The Seattle Parks webpage for the West Seattle Golf Course driving-range project now has a date for the next public meeting – October 27th. At the first meeting Aug. 5 (WSB coverage here), there was some concern about the potential site; at the second meeting Sept. 15 (WSB coverage here), a slightly different site was proposed, but its potential effects on the existing golf course drew concern. To see what the project team’s come up with now, be at the golf course’s clubhouse at 7 pm Wednesday 10/27.

Same night as Triangle Advisory Meeting from City Dept Planners @ Senior Center? Missed opportunity – both are important for many of the same people.

More wasted money. I could see doing somthing like this under good times but I think our police and other emergency wokers deserve the money. Heck the mayor just talked about all the budget cuts but theres money for golfing and skateboard parks. Where are the mayors prioritys. There is no extra money. Unless the mayor isn’t telling us everything.

Skateparks provide free and active space for kids and families at a time when they need it most. They also cost very little to maintain, especially if they’re built in an existing park, which makes them a steal from a public spending POV.
    .
These projects are also funded many years in advance. You’ll get your wish of minimal development in 3 years, but it won’t bring more money into essential services because that’s now how city funding works.

I am under the impression that a driving range is one of, if not the only way our parks dept. makes any kind of earnings. I quess unlike the county water taxi, a driving range can turn a profit. Looks like a good investment to me. And I don’t golf.

..OKAY, I saw what was first proposed, not bad…I had hit a lot of balls off of the original driving range at WS…I learned to play at WS after I got back from the service in 1969…I was told “if you can shoot ’90’ at WS you’ll be in the 80’s elsewhere…

If you destroy my original ‘Holes’ by this unconscionable layout ( your second plan)…it shudn’t be a problem getting a teetime no one in WS will play , not too mention using the ‘driving range’! Where did you find this planner? Sounds verry southeastern to me…

the city does not run the golf courses.

premier golf- a private company does.

    they make a huge profit.

premier will continue to make even more.

nix the driving range until we, the people

know who is going to run said range.

    what’s premier’s take.

premier golf has a huge interest.

people should be asking why build the

range for premier golf when the tax

payers are footing the bill for a

    private company.

    something to to think about.

premier golf also runs and operates the

bars and food services —-not the city.

profit for the tax payers or profit for

    premier.

    something to think about.

i love golf but, there’s more to the

    story people.

original master plan was back in the

late 1980’s. alot more history to this

project than being told. please people let your

opinions be heard and attend meeting, thanks.

Sorry, comment time is over.
