Followup: The Beer Junction may be open as soon as next week

3 months after we first reported the impending arrival of The Beer Junction across 42nd SW from the north end of Jefferson Square, the sign is up … and proprietor Morgan Herzog is inside with … yes … beer!

We went in to check in on his progress toward getting the store open; he tells us that if all goes well, he might be open as soon as the end of next week. That would be ahead of the schedule he was hoping for when we talked to him in March! As for the beer, he mentions he’s particularly proud of having been able to procure Pliny the Elder.

Awesome to have a bottle shop in West Seattle. Hopefully no more beer runs to Wallingford or Georgetown for those harder to find brews.

I’m thirsty now. Off the Beveridge Place Pub for a pre-Sounders pint or two.

If he was able to procure Pliny the Elder then that means he already has some amount of respect from Russian River. They don’t ship their beer to “just anyone.” I look forward to patronizing your new business Morgan.

Now go try to round up some Dogfish. 120 Minute in particular.

wow! pliny! my hubby will be so happy to hear that! apparently very hard stuff to come by. Congrats! We can’t wait to stop in.

Shannon – The last time I found some Pliny at the Thriftway at Cali and Fauntleroy. The beer and wine lady there will order you anything you want. And she takes suggestions too.

Pliny was also on tap a couple of weeks ago at Circa. Sure beats driving to Santa Rosa to pick up a couple of growlers. Welcome Beer Junction!

  • JunctionMonkey June 10, 2010 (5:42 pm)

    Hooray, Beer!

  • Dc June 10, 2010 (7:38 pm)

    Awesome

  • GenHillOne June 10, 2010 (8:16 pm)

Okay, throwing this one out there – and the caveat is that it’s for a reunion, and the memories, not the flavor :P – but are those stubby Lucky Lager bottles (with the puzzles in the cap) still out there anywhere? Cool addition to the junction!!

  • Megan B June 10, 2010 (8:26 pm)

Hooray for Pliny! I, too, have driven to Santa Rosa for a couple of growlers. Good to know I can get it to go- I was indeed delighted to have it recently at Circa as well!

  • jiggers June 10, 2010 (9:14 pm)

I have this feeling that their prices are going to be thru the roof.

  • zerodacus June 10, 2010 (9:37 pm)

But wait everybody, what about the children?, there is a school just two blocks away, where is the outrage? (humor inserted here)

  • HelperMonkey June 10, 2010 (10:32 pm)

holy crap. super deli mart has Pliny the Elder on tap RIGHT NOW. Grab your growlers, kids!!

  • tut June 11, 2010 (11:27 am)

Sounds like a great shop. I would love it if he would sell some brewing supplies as well. Such a long trip to Shoreline or Kent brew supply stores

  • Adrienne June 11, 2010 (11:32 am)

Congrats Morgan – can’t wait to see the place open…I hear it’s today…is that right?

    • WSB June 11, 2010 (11:53 am)

  • JimmyG June 11, 2010 (11:53 am)

If they stock Beer Lao I’ll be a customer.

  • superdelimart_fan June 11, 2010 (2:24 pm)

    Hey hey hey!
    .
Super Deli Mart has everyone beat on prices. 35th & Barton. High hopes for this new business, but you have big shoes to fill if you’re going to take down Master Minh.
    .
Advice for the new business is to have growlers. Nothing beats the variety of Super Deli Mart.

Sorry, comment time is over.
