Neighborhood alert: Encounter near Morgan Junction

Rachel just sent a note she wanted to share about someone who came up to her house about an hour ago – read on:

Just wanted to alert people in the Morgan Junction area – at 8:45 pm a man rang my doorbell and asked for someone I’ve never heard of. He was peering through the window and gave me a very bad feeling so I didn’t open the door. He hung about outside my house for maybe 10 minutes, peered in through my car windows and just stood looking at the house. Then he went and sat in a van parked in a driveway a few houses down the road. When my husband came home 10 mins later and went to investigate, he started the van and drove away.

The man was in his late 50s to early 60s, white/gray hair poking out from a navy blue beanie. He was missing some teeth in the front of his mouth and was wearing dark clothes.

Rachel, I am so sorry that you experienced this. You have good reason to be scared. Please call the police and tell them what happened. They want to know. An obvious crime does not need to be committed for you to call the police.
I’m glad your husband is home; but still, let the police know. It is not too late to do that.

What color van and regular or mini van?
I have seen a similar looking person at the market next to walgreens on 35th. Interestingly enough, one time i saw this: he picked up a young guy, money was exchanged from the man to the guy, and the guy got into the car and they drove off. The younger guy looked between 18-22. The older man drives a van. Creepy. You can see loads going down in that area – spend an afternoon at the laundry… Police visit very often …

What color was the van? Red by any chance? With any markings on the side? We had one parked in front of our house this afternoon with the motor running. Didn’t see who was in it, before it left.

I live in Morgan Junction too and had a two-tone blue van drive slowly down our street last week with three caucasion men in the front and one was definitely missing teeth. I hadn’t ever seen them before and we are on a small street. I watched them and made mental note since it gave me a bad feeling.

This sounds like my former methhead neighbor. But I suppose there’s a lot of those out there.

First thing I would have done was call the police. If he’s hanging around your house….gee I would be calling the police.

just another reminder for ALL of us to be very aware of our surroundings and who is in them. if enough people push back by reporting suspicious vehicles and people, maybe we can drive these people out of here. so sorry for what happened to you. that is creepy.

    From the MOCA website:
“Morgan Junction has more than 10,000 residents, 5,000 homes and 140 businesses surrounding the intersection of SW Morgan Street and California Avenue SW. Our neighborhood is bounded generally on the north by SW Brandon Street, on the east by 35th Avenue SW, on the south by SW Kenyon Street, and on the west by Lincoln Park and Puget Sound.”
That’s a lot of area for a lot of fearful speculating.

So is Rachel ever going to chime in and fill in all of the important missing details? What area specifically and color of van, etc..

My home was broken into on Monday 2-1-10 by a car full of teenagers. They kicked open my back door and must have been scared off by my dog becuase nothig was stolen. My neighbor has surveillance cameras around his home thats how I got the description of the car. Light green 4 door Honda Civic (early 90’s) License plate 598-tni.
Beware of them, they came back the next day too! They drove off when they saw us home.
We live near Holy Family Church off Roxbury.

Hi everyone – an update – called the police and reported the man. Apparently he also went to my neighbor’s house too (we live right on Fauntleroy near the CA intersection) and he thought the guy seemed drunk and wouldn’t open the door either. The van was a white minivan and unfortunately he drove off before we were able to get the license plate.

Sorry, comment time is over.
