SPD Officer Britt Sweeney tells her story for the first time

Less than three weeks after the Halloween night shooting that shook the city and took Officer Timothy Brenton‘s life, his partner Officer Britt Sweeney is telling her story. That video clip is from Wednesday night’s Q13 FOX newscast; Sweeney talked with anchor David Rose during a taping of the station’s “Washington’s Most Wanted” show. She told the station she’s still hoping to get back to work as soon as possible.

She really puts a human face to the police force.
Great to see that someone like her can dedicate their life to helping others and fighting the bad guys. Wish her and her family the best. Being a cop is not an easy job though many folks tend to think so.

Go Britt! Great to see her in the flesh. She seems strong and humble at the same time. It is not an easy job at all but our officers are some of the best with great education and training. We are a fortunate city.

Without a doubt, Officer Sweeney is very deserving of the Officer of the Month award, from WMW.

This interview just reinforces what I presumed from the outset of what happened that tragic night. That Officer Sweeney is an exceptionally courageous, intelligent, level headed person.

She not only is a great asset to SPD, but to the entire City of Seattle as well. I wish her great success in her career, when she decides the time is right to go back on duty, and wish for it to be a safe career for her as well.
