West Seattle 7-year-old’s bike stolen – have you seen it?

Amanda sent that photo of a bike just like the one her 7-year-old daughter was learning to ride, till someone made off with it, because she’s thinking maybe you’ve seen it somewhere:

My daughter Zoe was just getting the hang of riding her bike when it was taken right from our front yard on 31st Ave SW and Elmgrove in the Westwood neighborhood. It’s a blue Trek Mystic with training wheels and a white basket in front. We’ve asked around the neighborhood and kept our eyes peeled for it, and I’d love some West Seattle help in getting it back.

Check the Delridge Vacuum, tv & used goods shop near the Delridge Library. Plenty of stolen good show up for sale there. If it is there call Seattle Police. Hope it comes back to your daughter:)

When you check the place on Delridge, know that he has most of the bikes in the room downstairs-so that we won’t drive by and see them. We just had our third kid’s bike stolen from our 31st house also-sounds like they cruise along looking for them.

Sad and pathetic that someone would steal a kid’s bike like that. If there’s a silver lining it would be the lesson for a young cyclist to secure your ride when you’re away from it.

It is so so sad but with the heavy meth problem we have in WS the crime is rampant. Also check the Pawn shops, daily I see junkies taking things into the “Capital Loan” one on Fauntleroy next to the empty Huling lots. Good Luck

I live by Capital Loan, but I don’t see a lot of junkies. How can you tell by just looking at them, are there some obvious signs? I guess I never get a close enough look to be able to tell their drug history.
That bike was so pretty, I hope you guys get it back!

Our 8 year daughter’s bike was also stolen from our driveway on Gatewood.
It was a poor example on our part in allowing her to leave it out.
The bike was found by a neighbor on her walk.

Apparently, someone had just hopped on the bike to ride down the hill and had abandoned it at the bottom.

My husband’s bike was stolen from behind our home last night too. Near Delridge and Edmonds. Good luck finding your bike and we will look for it when we look for ours.

check craigslist

and I used to live near Cap Loans as well – never noticed a high junkie problem there and I would say crime was better over there in general than my new neighborhood of Admiral

Thanks everyone for keeping your eyes peeled (and to WS Blog for posting this). Definitely a good lesson learned the hard way: put your bike away.

The really wonderful thing is that a lovely person in Alki saw this posting and is giving Zoe his daughter’s old bike. Thank you again. That really made my whole year. Nice people rule!

We live right by John’s deli and my mother’s bike was parked on our porch behind our fence and it was taken. We had just finished a nice bike ride around Alki earlier that day…quite sad. We will have to check out a few of those places too. Lock up the bikes!
