Michael at Liberty Bell Printing in The Junction mentioned this situation when we dropped by the other day on other business — we told him it sounded like news to us. Lots of hard-working animal-advocacy groups in West Seattle; this one, Friends of the Animals Foundation, is a week away from a fundraiser but hampered by a crisis related to a recent fire — read on to see what Michael wants you to know:
FAF NEEDS HELP!
Here in West Seattle you have an all-volunteer group called Friends
of the Animals Foundation (FAF) that helps to rescue many cats and
kittens from otherwise bleak and short lives. The cats we rescue
come from all kinds of situations, abandoned, abused, unloved and
unwanted. FAF gets them the vet care that they need and then
fosters them with volunteers for as long as necessary until they can
be found loving and permanent homes.Rescue work is hard work, and is expensive. FAF struggles every year
to raise money to save as many cats in need as possible. This year
FAF’s needs are more acute than usual as the ranks of the already
small number of volunteers has been decimated by illness and life
challenges. A few core volunteers are struggling to put on the annual
and critical auction fundraiser which will be held this year,
Saturday, May 3rd at the Rocksport, 4209 SW Alaska Street from
1-3 pm.This year there was a fire that destroyed all the records of donors
from previous years. We are unable to contact a lot of our annual
donors. Your help is needed to make this auction a success. FAF
can use volunteers and donations of services or items that can be
auctioned off, as well as monetary donations (even $10 can go a long
way to help out one cat in need). Please see if there is any way you
or someone you know can help the FAF cats this year.If you have a service or item that you can donate for the auction you
can contact FAF at the number and address listed below. Donations can
also be dropped off at Liberty Bell Printing 4736 California Avenue
SW, from 9 am to 5:30 pm Monday-Friday. Anything you can do to help
the cats is appreciated. Remember, all donations are tax
deductible. We are a Federal 501(c)3 charity. The survival of this group depends upon a successful auction this
year and time is running out!Friends of the Animals Foundation

Speaking of pets and The Junction, don’t forget Pet Fest tomorrow … we’ll be there to cover the newly added Most Beautiful Pet contest, among other things.
