Also at the Gemboree (10 am-5 pm tomorrow, admission free), we found 11-year-old Gatewood Elementary student DeLancey working with Rock Club past president Lyle Vogelpohl to prepare a specimen for polish:
From there, we dropped by Hotwire Coffee (WSB sponsor) for the early moments of the Meet Your Sweetheart party – nice-enough weather that candles were even out on the patio tables:
Later, it was off to The Kenney, where the Seattle Opera Guild had arranged a preview of the upcoming SO production of Puccini’s “Tosca.” Soprano Eleanor Stallcop-Horrox and tenor Gino Lucchetti are not in the cast but presented a spirited preview of one song:
Their accompanist, Beth Kirchhoff, is the Seattle Opera chorus master, and also a West Seattleite. She told us more about why this opera is a fave:
“Tosca” opens February 23. One other musical sighting today – a miniature version of a Vietnamese instrument known as a “t’rung,” shown in a special discovery zone set up at High Point Library this afternoon for kids to learn about the Vietnamese New Year festival Tet:
